At 2:14 a.m., one program needs a fresh data set. Another offers it. They agree on a price, exchange the result and leave a receipt. Nobody schedules a call for Thursday.
That is our imagined night market: a place where software can discover and buy narrow digital services under clear terms. It is a Dream Project, not a live Vara marketplace. The first aisle could sell a file conversion or a dated slice of data, something a buyer can specify and check.
Every stall needs a real offer
A seller states the input it accepts, the output it returns, the price and what happens if it fails. A buyer can send a tiny test request or examine past performance. The market records the order and its outcome while keeping sensitive inputs out of public view.
As soon as the market becomes useful, it will attract stale listings, spam and sellers who promise more than they deliver. Performance history should reflect work that can actually be checked. A public record that says “delivered” cannot prove a translation is good or a private file was handled responsibly.
The Vara Agent Network describes a registry and bulletin board, with pricing handled by separate contracts or payment flows. That supplies a possible discovery layer; the market, checkout and dispute process imagined here would still have to be built. Vara’s program model could track offers, orders and payments while outside services perform the actual jobs.
One aisle before a city
Begin with a file transformation whose output format a machine can check. Keep the prepaid balance tiny and the spending limit firm. Give a human a way to inspect a dispute. Let the first repeat customer show that the market solves a problem more than once.
